Lowering a motorcycle – safely reducing the seat height

Why lower it?

One Lowering Lowers your motorcycle's seat height by up to 40 mm – for better ground contact when stopping, increased safety, and a more relaxed riding experience. A reduced seat height is often crucial for shorter riders and beginners to feel confident on the bike.

Linkage lever or strut?

The reduction is usually implemented via a modified deflection lever – the most common and cleanest solution, as it does not affect the shock absorber characteristics. For models without a linkage, a modified one is used instead. shock absorber or a modified spring/damper combination is used.

ABE instead of individual TÜV approval

Each lowering kit comes with a General operating permit (ABE) This eliminates the need for individual TÜV approval; you register the modification directly with your vehicle registration office. According to the ABE (General Operating Permit) regulations, installation must be carried out by a specialist workshop.

Handling & Ground Clearance

With typical lowering of 25–40 mm, the handling remains virtually unchanged, although the center of gravity is lowered minimally. The slightly reduced ground clearance is not a problem for road use.
