A1 driving licence
Entitles you to drive motorcycles up to 125 cc and max. 11 kW (15 hp). Power-to-weight ratio max. 0.1 kW/kg. From 16 years available for purchase.
B196 extension
Since 2020, drivers of cars (Class B) with the B196 extension can drive 125cc motorcycles. The same applies here. 11 kW limit. Valid only in Germany!

Technical implementation
In 125cc single-cylinder engines, the throttle is mechanically restricted via Throttle stop or carburetor plate. Installation takes approximately 20-45 minutes.

For brand-new vehicles compliant with EC 168/2013 (Euro 4/5), the registration authority uses the data from the Certificate of Conformity (COC) or the EC type approval (key numbers, EC vehicle class, etc.) during initial registration. If the vehicle is restricted before initial registration, this pre-filled data may no longer be valid. Recommendation: first register the vehicle with the original COC data and then have the restriction officially recorded via the parts certificate (Section 19 Paragraph 3 of the German Road Traffic Act (StVZO)).
